Interclub Competition
The second Interclub competition was held at Broadway Social Club,
Liverpool on 11th June 2006. Will Lang and Jak Kimberley-Payne were
fighting again following their success at the previous event.
Several students came along to support, including our very own Sarah
Newman from Lakeland Radio who featured the event on her breakfast
show.

Unfortunately neither of the lads’ opponents
showed up! So with some re-scheduling Will ended up fighting a much
more experienced fighter (black belt to Will’s green). Will put in a
great performance showing excellent technique and did not give his
opponent an inch. It was a really close fight, Will lost on points
but he is certainly one to watch for the future and will be looking
for a re-match.
As a suitable opponent could not be found for Jak,
his dad stepped in and offered to take him on in an exhibition bout.
Jak’s dad, John started training with Jak just over 2 years ago and
is a very competent fighter himself. They both gave a good technical
performance and the circumstances made for an unusual fight to
entertain the spectators!
Both these young fighters are set for success in
the future and are looking forward to their next event.
